PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hershel Hasselhoff (ranked 3388 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdul Rahman (ranked 3514 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Abdul Rahman was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hershel Hasselhoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abdul Rahman!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Rahman finds it's way through Hasselhoff's defenses.
Hasselhoff goes for a double leg but Rahman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rahman continues to drive forward.

and Hasselhoff counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rahman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hasselhoff is one step ahead there.

Hasselhoff is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rahman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rahman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hasselhoff manages to get himself to full guard.

Rahman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hasselhoff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Hershel Hasselhoff will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Rahman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hasselhoff manages to avoid it.

Nice uppercut lands for Rahman. That snapped Hasselhoff's head back.
Rahman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rahman wants it to stay on the feet.
Hasselhoff has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Rahman throws out a powerful jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hasselhoff.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rahman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rahman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rahman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rahman tries to roll over but Hasselhoff keeps him under control.

Hasselhoff is trying to control the action in half guard but Rahman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rahman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Hasselhoff drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hasselhoff jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rahman seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Abdul Rahman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Hasselhoff tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rahman defends well and Hasselhoff ends up having to push Rahman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
