PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nickey OQuinn (ranked 3708 p4p, 391 weight class) and Bart Brick (ranked 3869 p4p, 402 weight class). OQuinn comes to the cage accompanied by YG - Stop Snitchin. Brick has chosen Move as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nickey OQuinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bart Brick!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brick swings and misses with a hook to the body.

OQuinn manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brick on his heels. He'll look to pass Brick's guard now, I'm sure.

Brick working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because OQuinn has passed into half guard!

OQuinn lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
OQuinn seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. OQuinn lands a nice short elbow.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Brick has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. OQuinn is working away from the top position though.
OQuinn has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Brick is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but OQuinn pulls his head out easily.
Brick is trying to control but can't.
Brick keeping hold of OQuinn's head, controlling as best he can.
Brick is looking to control OQuinn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brick avoid being mounted?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
OQuinn prevents Brick from improving his position.
OQuinn trying to control the pace.
OQuinn takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
OQuinn is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
OQuinn is looking to advance position but Brick won't allow it.
Brick throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Brick wants to control the action here but instead OQuinn manages to pass to full mount!
OQuinn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brick is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
OQuinn looking to control and managing it successfully.
OQuinn lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brick hang on?
Brick tries to reverse the position but OQuinn maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brick wants to control but OQuinn is having none of it.

OQuinn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brick sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Brick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brick has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. OQuinn is working away from the top position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
OQuinn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Brick works the jab nicely.
We've been informed that Brick has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sloppy strikes from OQuinn. Those never looked like landing.
Brick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says OQuinn as he avoids it easily.

and OQuinn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Brick holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
OQuinn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brick can do to turn this around?

Brick looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Brick is looking for a sweep. OQuinn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
OQuinn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

OQuinn lands strikes from half guard.
Well, if OQuinn is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brick looking for submissions off his back.
Brick wants to control but OQuinn is keeping busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
OQuinn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Brick with the counter takedown but OQuinn avoids it easily.
Brick throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent OQuinn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bart Brick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
OQuinn checks the leg kick nicely there.
OQuinn throws a shot from downtown. Brick moves away and avoids it.
Brick is on the wrong end of a nice combination from OQuinn.

OQuinn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Brick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. OQuinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. OQuinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
OQuinn trying to control the position from guard on top but Brick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OQuinn working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brick's head.

Brick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. OQuinn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brick pulls OQuinn in close to his closed guard and prevents OQuinn from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brick controls OQuinn momentarily but OQuinn frees himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brick looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nickey OQuinn dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Brick fails with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brick looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
OQuinn throws the left hand but Brick avoids the punch easily.

Brick takes the fight into the clinch.

Brick manages to pull guard.
OQuinn is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nickey OQuinn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brick has his foot on OQuinn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. OQuinn works his way back into a safe position though.

Brick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. OQuinn defends it easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
OQuinn lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Nickey OQuinn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
OQuinn looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Brick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. OQuinn manages to get himself to full guard.

Brick tries to free his leg and advance position but OQuinn is retaining full guard.

OQuinn wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
OQuinn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if OQuinn tries to get out of the position.

OQuinn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brick's guard.

OQuinn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Brick looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Brick is trying to keep OQuinn in close.
OQuinn sitting in guard here, content to control.

Brick is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and OQuinn defends well.
OQuinn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bart Brick has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OQuinn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, OQuinn has managed to get both his arms back between Brick's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Bart Brick.
I think OQuinn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
