Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Test Fighter D (ranked 3501 p4p, 299 weight class) and Jake Sonnen (ranked 4224 p4p, 342 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter D wants to clinch up but Sonnen keeps it at a distance.
Sonnen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Fighter D tries to clinch up but Sonnen circles away and keeps his distance.

Sonnen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fighter D quickly recovers to half guard.
Fighter D is looking for a sweep. Sonnen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fighter D has his hands on Sonnen's head, controlling the position.

Fighter D wriggles free and stands up.
Sonnen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Fighter D lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Sonnen checks a leg kick nicely.
Sonnen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fighter D.
Sonnen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A combination from Fighter D does no damage.
Sonnen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fighter D's waist but Fighter D gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sonnen off to one side.

Sonnen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fighter D was covering up waiting for the punch and Sonnen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fighter D scrambles and gets back to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Fighter D looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Sonnen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fighter D dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Fighter D keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Sonnen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Fighter D is trying to break free.
Fighter D wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sonnen has him pressed against the cage.

Sonnen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fighter D pulls his leg out and moves away.
Test Fighter D has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Sonnen.
Sonnen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Fighter D scores with a hook to the body. Sonnen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Sonnen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Fighter D misses with a takedown attempt - Sonnen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Test Fighter D seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fighter D uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sonnen has time to react.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sonnen.
Fighter D shoots for a double leg takedown but Sonnen sprawls well. He's pushed Fighter D's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sonnen throws a counter combo.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fighter D looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fighter D fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nice takedown defense from Fighter D. No joy for Sonnen on that attempt.
Fighter D seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Sonnen walks into a straight right hand from Fighter D.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sonnen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fighter D avoids it really well and circles away.
Sonnen looks winded!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A jab lands there for Fighter D.

Fighter D darts in and clinches Sonnen up against the cage.

Sonnen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sonnen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fighter D connects with a single shot there.
Sonnen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Fighter D tests Sonnen's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Sonnen is rocked!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Fighter D, right into the meat.
Fighter D's corner calls for a 1-2. Fighter D obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fighter D lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Sonnen falls backwards - clearly groggy! Fighter D dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
