Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dino Carson (ranked 5010 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Iovine (ranked 6027 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dino Carson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Iovine!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Iovine throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Carson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Iovine is in Carson's guard.
Iovine looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Carson has control of Iovine's left arm, preventing Iovine from doing any damage.
Iovine trying to control the position from guard on top but Carson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Iovine being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Iovine slips nicely into half guard.

Iovine is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Carson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Iovine prevents Carson from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Iovine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carson is just riding it out for now. Iovine eventually gives up the hold.
Carson is looking to escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Iovine feints and as Carson raises his hands in defense, Iovine changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carson has his hands on Iovine's head, controlling the position.
Carson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Iovine trying to control but Carson is working from the bottom.
Carson wants to stand and escape but Iovine is having none of it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Carson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carson is defended easily by Iovine.

Carson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Iovine avoids it really well and circles away.
Iovine tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kevin Iovine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Iovine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Iovine wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dino Carson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Iovine drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Iovine wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Iovine happy to just control the position for now.

Carson throws a head kick that misses
and Iovine counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Carson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Iovine but Iovine pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Carson seems keen to control Iovine's posture.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Iovine wants to control from the top but Carson keeps moving.
Carson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Carson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Iovine changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Carson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carson lands in his opponent's guard.

Carson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Iovine's head.

Iovine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carson is aware though and is defending well.

Iovine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Iovine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Carson shoots in looking for a takedown. Iovine tries to sprawl out of it but Carson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Iovine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carson showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Iovine is defending against the submission attempts here by Carson.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Iovine has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carson is working away from the top position though.

Carson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Iovine is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
