Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mugen Ainu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Mulligan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mugen Ainu has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ainu throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mulligan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Nice straight punches there by Ainu. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ainu.
Mulligan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ainu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mulligan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ainu looks to score with a jab to the body but Mulligan is just out of range.

Mulligan clinches up with Ainu and pushes him back against the cage.
Ainu is trying to break the clinch but Mulligan has him pressed against the cage.
Mulligan has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ainu avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ainu gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mulligan.
Mugen Ainu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pete Mulligan.

Mulligan gets control of Ainu's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mulligan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mulligan has his foot on Ainu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ainu works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ainu throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mulligan on the side of the head.
Mulligan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ainu.
Mugen Ainu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ainu throws a right hand that Mulligan ducks under and follows up with a left that Mulligan also avoids with ease.

Ainu comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Mulligan drives through and clinches with Ainu against the cage.
Ainu wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mulligan has him pressed against the cage.

Mulligan is trying to drag Ainu to the mat but Ainu just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ainu throws a punch but it's blocked by Mulligan.
Ainu has had enough of the clinch but Mulligan keeps him there for the moment.
Mulligan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ainu pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mulligan misses with a few strikes there.
Ainu lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mulligan at a distance.
Mulligan looks gassed!

Mulligan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ainu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mugen Ainu dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mulligan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mulligan shoots in looking for a takedown. Ainu tries to sprawl out of it but Mulligan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ainu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ainu cracks Mulligan with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ainu drops Mulligan with a left and a right! Oh, Mulligan is hurt - Ainu dives into side control looking to finish!
This has been an exciting period of action!
An elbow from Ainu crashes against the mat.
Mulligan is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ainu's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ainu throws a right hand that Mulligan ducks under and follows up with a left that Mulligan also avoids with ease.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mulligan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ainu swivels and escapes.
Ainu fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ainu ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mulligan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ainu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
