PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between mackin roe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by roe.
Sloppy strikes there by roe.
You can see the frustration on Adams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

roe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adams is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Adams tries to buck roe off but roe is having none of it.

Adams pushes roe away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, roe gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
roe wants to clinch up but Adams keeps it at a distance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Adams takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

roe looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Adams!

Adams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Adams works his foot free and advances to mount.
roe swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Adams goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now roe is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that mackin roe will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Adams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Adams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. roe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Adams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

roe isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Adams stacks roe on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Adams!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Adams gets to mount! roe was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

roe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Adams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Adams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Adams!

Adams goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, roe has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Adams but great work by roe.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Oh but Adams is tightening it up a little... roe has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! roe reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! roe taps out! nice BJJ there by Adams!
