PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earl Mckee (ranked 24755 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uzumaki Naruto (ranked 5160 p4p, 0 weight class). Uzumaki Naruto is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Naruto wants to clinch but Mckee slips to the side

and Mckee counters with a takedown into side control.

Mckee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Naruto, who protects the arm well.
Mckee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Naruto keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Naruto tries to bench press Mckee off him but Mckee keeps the position.

Mckee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Naruto has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mckee wants to control but Naruto is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Naruto tries to buck Mckee off but Mckee is having none of it.
Naruto is trying to control Mckee's posture but Mckee avoids it.

Mckee stands up.

Mckee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Naruto was covering up waiting for the punch and Mckee finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Naruto manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Mckee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Naruto wants to clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mckee enables Naruto to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mckee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Naruto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mckee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mckee looking for a sweep. Not yet Mckee, not yet.
Mckee is looking to stand up but Naruto isn't so interested in that idea.
Naruto throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Naruto is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like Naruto might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Naruto is pushing down on Mckee's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mckee is fighting to maintain full guard but Naruto has managed to sneak the leg through.

Naruto decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Mckee takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Uzumaki Naruto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Naruto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mckee tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Naruto is in Mckee's guard.

Mckee manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Mckee breaks from the clinch.
Naruto throws a head kick that misses.

Mckee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mckee throws a big counter combination but Naruto scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Naruto closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mckee quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mckee is trying to stand.
Mckee is trying to control but can't.
Naruto not doing much here.
Naruto is looking to advance position but Mckee won't allow it.

Mckee makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That was a close round but I would say that Earl Mckee will probably get the nod.

Naruto closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Naruto lands in his opponent's guard.
Naruto tries to stand but Mckee is controlling from the bottom.
Mckee really is a fat lump.
Mckee seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Naruto stays in close to Mckee's body and controls the position.

Let's hope that Naruto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Naruto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mckee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Naruto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mckee throws Naruto to one side and escapes!

and Naruto counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

This has been an exciting period of action!

and Mckee counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Naruto is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Mckee keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Naruto content to control rather than advance.
Naruto is stalling here. Mckee is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Naruto seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mckee has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Mckee gets to mount! Naruto was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Naruto tries to lock up and control but Mckee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Naruto walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mckee.
Mckee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Naruto circles away quickly and effectively.

and Naruto makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Earl Mckee dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Some wild striking there from Mckee.
And Naruto tries to counter it with a takedown but Mckee pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Naruto manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mckee on his heels. He'll look to pass Mckee's guard now, I'm sure.
Naruto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Naruto stands and steps away. Mckee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Naruto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Mckee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Naruto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mckee has Naruto in his guard.

Uzumaki Naruto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mckee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
