Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jao Rua (ranked 321 p4p, 41 weight class) and Thor Fresh (ranked 1407 p4p, 170 weight class). Rua's entrance music is Tarantula . A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Thor Fresh was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua thows a left - swing and a miss!
Rua throws a lazy uppercut
and Fresh counters with a nice leg kick.
Rua chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Fresh can pounce on him.
Fresh slips a straight right by Rua.
Rua uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fresh.
Rua misses with a looping right.

and Fresh counters with a stiff right hand.

Rua has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rua there as he acknowledges the shot.
Rua is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fresh lands with a right hand.
Fresh scores with a kick to the midsection.
Fresh throws a body kick that misses.
Rua moves out of range as Fresh strikes.
Fresh tries a head kick but it misses.
Fresh slips under a jab.
Fresh slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thor Fresh dominated that round.

Fresh feints a jab promting Rua to slip. Fresh then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rua slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Rua displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fresh throws out the jab.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Rua might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Rua.
Fresh with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Fresh rushes Rua and presses him up against the cage.
Rua wants to break the clinch but can't.
Rua is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fresh is defending well.
Fresh lands a right hand.
Rua is trying to force a seperation but Fresh has the dominant position.

and Fresh counters with a lovely shot to the body.

The fighters circle momentarily. Fresh darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Oooooh!!! Rua has knocked Fresh down with a huge combo! Rua steps away and waves a wobbly Fresh back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Rua drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fresh is still in real trouble! Can Rua finish him?

Rua is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fresh seems to have recovered his senses.

Rua takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rua stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Fresh.

and Rua counters with a two punch combo.
Fresh has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Fresh connects with a body shot that sends Rua's belly button to the back.
Rua is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Both fighters circling a little - Fresh finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fresh scores with a hook to the body. Rua takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fresh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rua throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fresh was covering up waiting for the punch and Rua finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rua won't allow Fresh to sweep him here.
Fresh controls Rua momentarily but Rua frees himself.

Rua sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fresh's guard.

Rua seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fresh is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jao Rua!
