Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Saunders (ranked 24559 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helio Alcala (ranked 3186 p4p, 303 weight class). Alcala has chosen Halogen- U got that as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tyron Saunders has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tyron Saunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Helio Alcala!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saunders shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alcala as he jumps to the side.
A clash of legs there as Saunders blocks the low kick.
Alcala fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Alcala is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Saunders wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alcala tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Saunders avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alcala tries to close the distance and clinch but Saunders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alcala throws a jab but it's blocked by Saunders.
Saunders is looking for a counter combo.

Alcala bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Saunders is looking to get back to his feet here but Alcala is keeping cool and he's managed to take Saunders's back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saunders is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Saunders breaks Alcala's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Saunders scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alcala is looking for a triangle but Saunders pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saunders got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alcala has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Saunders has managed to get both his arms back between Alcala's legs - danger averted.

Saunders drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alcala dives on top into guard.

Alcala slips nicely into half guard.

Alcala stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Saunders tries to pull guard but Alcala won't allow it.

Saunders is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Saunders drops back looking for a leg! Alcala is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alcala manages to kick Saunders off! Saunders jumps back into Alcala's guard.
Alcala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alcala pulls Saunders in close to prevent any damage.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Alcala throws a nice looking combination but Saunders bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Saunders throws a big counter combination but Alcala scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Alcala drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Saunders has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Alcala off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Saunders manages to work his way to half guard, despite Alcala's best efforts.
Saunders moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Alcala seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Saunders bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alcala's guard.

Alcala controls Saunders momentarily but Saunders frees himself.

Alcala has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saunders can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Saunders stands up over Alcala, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Saunders bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Alcala throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

That was a close second round but I would say that Tyron Saunders will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Alcala takes the fight into the clinch.
Saunders goes for a takedown attempt but Alcala pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alcala tries to close the distance and clinch up but Saunders swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alcala doesn't manage to clinch there - Saunders circles away.
Saunders seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Alcala tries to land a front kick but Saunders steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Saunders manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alcala manages to get himself to full guard.

Saunders drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alcala looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alcala looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alcala!

Alcala tries to advance to mount but Saunders denies him.
Alcala wants to control but Saunders is keeping him busy.

Alcala is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Saunders has escaped the position, nice work there.
Saunders tries to buck Alcala off but Alcala is having none of it.

Alcala decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Alcala has his takedown stuffed

and Saunders counters by clinching up.
Alcala takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Alcala has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Saunders is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Saunders tries for a takedown but Alcala manages to get underhooks.
Saunders is trying to drag Alcala to the mat but Alcala just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyron Saunders. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Saunders displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alcala.
Helio Alcala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Saunders counters with a three punch combo that has Alcala backing up. Alcala nods at Saunders to acknowledge the strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saunders is defended easily by Alcala.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saunders throws a sloppy head kick and Alcala moves out of range easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Helio Alcala.
I think Alcala has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Helio Alcala was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
