Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Lewis (ranked 6522 p4p, 459 weight class) and Phil Domphy (ranked 3203 p4p, 352 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Domphy!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lewis checks a leg kick.
Lewis fails to land with a series of punches.
Lewis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Domphy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Domphy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Domphy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lewis.

Lewis shoots in for a double leg but Domphy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Domphy throws a solid leg kick but Lewis takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Domphy.
Lewis throws a right hand that Domphy ducks under and follows up with a left that Domphy also avoids with ease.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis is looking to clinch but Domphy is avoiding it.

It looks like Phil Domphy has been cut.
Domphy's coach down at The 13 Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Domphy's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Paul Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis digs a good hook to Domphy's body.
Lewis moves out of range of the leg kick from Domphy.
Lewis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Domphy can pounce on him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Domphy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lewis to the ground. Domphy is now in Lewis's guard.

Domphy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like Domphy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Lewis wants to stand up but Domphy is controlling him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lewis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lewis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lewis drops Domphy with a beautiful combination! Domphy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lewis is looking for the KO!

Lewis wants to get back to striking at distance but Domphy won't allow it.
Domphy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lewis pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Lewis will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

As Domphy tries to get set, Lewis tries to push him back and clinch up but Domphy manages to avoid the attempt.
Lewis dives in and grabs Domphy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Domphy pushes down on Lewis's head and hops out.
