The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pitt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lichti's guard.

Pitt turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Lichti wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Lichti is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pitt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Pitt decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lichti, up you get!

Pitt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lichti is not content to let Pitt control the position.

Lichti is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pitt is controlling him well.
Pitt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lichti keeps working.

Lichti is pushing Pitt's head away, looking to escape. Pitt manages to hold on to the position though.
Pitt tries to move to mount but Lichti blocks the move with his legs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Pitt looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lichti is trying to stand up here but Pitt is controlling him well.
Lichti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pitt stops Lichti from getting back to his feet.

Lichti manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lichti throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pitt on the side of the head.

It looks like Brad Pitt has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pitt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lichti's waist but Lichti gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pitt off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Pitt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lichti throws a series of punches but Pitt moves out of range.

Lichti is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Pitt frees his head nicely. Oh but Lichti has switched to an armbar! Pitt is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
