Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Leonard Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Derick Fourie!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fourie lands a nice looking body kick.

Fourie rushes Burgess and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Burgess ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burgess no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Burgess is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fourie is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burgess lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Fourie wants to sweep here but Burgess controlling him for the moment.
Fourie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Burgess scoring with punches to the head and body.
Burgess wants to stand but Fourie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fourie is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Fourie tries to score a body lock takedown but Burgess shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Fourie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Burgess as he jumps to the side.

Fourie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Burgess makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Burgess has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fourie tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Burgess feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Burgess bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Burgess looks up at the clock and then as Fourie takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Burgess smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Burgess has hold of Fourie's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Fourie tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Burgess cranks the arm and Fourie screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Fourie, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
