Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between XY Mondragon (ranked 3041 p4p, 283 weight class) and Ru Shi Wu Cao (ranked 3013 p4p, 281 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ru Shi Wu Cao was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ru Shi Wu Cao!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mondragon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wu Cao eats them both and turns towards Mondragon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Mondragon fails to land with a series of punches.
Wu Cao fails with the takedown.
Mondragon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mondragon.
Mondragon lands a head shot.
Wu Cao dodges the punch combination from Mondragon.
Mondragon throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Wu Cao raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

XY Mondragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mondragon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

XY Mondragon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ru Shi Wu Cao.

XY Mondragon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mondragon throws a body punch but Wu Cao moves out of range.

Wu Cao shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wu Cao drops an elbow to the side of Mondragon's head.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mondragon. Wu Cao does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wu Cao tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Mondragon throws a hook to the side of Wu Cao's head but Wu Cao sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wu Cao shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
No luck for Wu Cao with that takedown attempt.

Wu Cao throws a low kick but Mondragon avoids it.
As Wu Cao looks to move away, Mondragon throws a big counter combo but Wu Cao just gets out of the way.

Wu Cao walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It seemed like Wu Cao was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mondragon went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Horrible takedown attempt by Wu Cao or perhaps it was just good defense by Mondragon, which made it look bad.
