Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cory Rasmus (ranked 4916 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Ali (ranked 3957 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cory Rasmus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Ali!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasmus shoots in and bounces Ali off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ali is trying to keep Rasmus in close.
Rasmus showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Ali is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ali working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rasmus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rasmus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ali not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ali can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rasmus controls the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cory Rasmus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ali goes for a double leg but Rasmus avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rasmus continues to drive forward.
Rasmus tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ali manages to circle out of the way.

Rasmus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The referee warns Ali that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ali is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ali regains half guard.
Rasmus landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Rasmus wants to stand but Ali has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rasmus is thwarting Ali's attempts to control the position.

Rasmus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ali defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cory Rasmus dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ali lands with a right hand.

Ali gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Ali wriggles free and stands up.

Rasmus clinches up with Ali and pushes him back against the cage.

Ali's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rasmus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ali is trying to defend but Rasmus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rasmus is looking for a kimura here.

Ali wants to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rasmus is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ali has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ali is trying to maintain the position but Rasmus is very close to passing his half guard.
Rasmus is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ali moves into full guard.

Ali throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ali shoots for a takedown but Rasmus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ali has a takedown stuffed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cory Rasmus will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Ali is in a horrible position here. Rasmus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Rasmus lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Ali wants to hold on but Rasmus pushes him away.

Ali bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rasmus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rasmus has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cory Rasmus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rasmus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chris Ali has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cory Rasmus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rasmus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
