The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from McQuirre misses.

Vega gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McQuirre lands a left hand.
Vega tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McQuirre's elbow.
Vega blocks an uppercut.

McQuirre swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Vega tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A head punch on the inside from McQuirre fails to land.
Vega lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Vega manages to pull guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Vega is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McQuirre defends well.
McQuirre knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vega on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vega pulls McQuirre in close to his closed guard and prevents McQuirre from doing any damage or advancing position.

Vega has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McQuirre can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vega makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vega.

McQuirre throws a sloppy strike and Vega has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! McQuirre is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Vega!
