Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buford Spears (ranked 24599 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalid Tahal (ranked 4972 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Buford Spears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Khalid Tahal!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spears blocks a head kick by Tahal.
Spears misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Spears really is a fat lump.

Tahal has closed the distance and engaged Spears in a clinch.
Tahal has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Spears is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Tahal is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tahal is looking to break free of the clinch but Spears has double underhooks.
Tahal manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Spears lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tahal wants a takedown but no success here.

Tahal is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Buford Spears has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalid Tahal.

Tahal jumps guard but Spears stands there with Tahal around his waist. Tahal gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Spears counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spears.
Tahal is looking to stand back up but Spears counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tahal.

Spears seems to be looking for submissions.
Spears misses with a head shot. Tahal uses the momentum to regain guard.

Spears gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Spears wants to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tahal pushes Spears up against the cage in a clinch.

Tahal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tahal throws a lazy head kick

and Spears counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Tahal!

Spears is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tahal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Spears connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Tahal some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Spears has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Tahal is trying to keep an underhook but Spears manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spears seems to be working for a kimura but Tahal defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Spears is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tahal has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tahal landing small, sideways elbows.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tahal thows a leg kick but Spears checks it

and Spears counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tahal utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Spears postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tahal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Spears, into his guard.

Buford Spears overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Spears throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tahal is looking to work some ground and pound but Spears has wrist control.
Spears is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tahal can do to turn this around?
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tahal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tahal's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Tahal throws an elbow that misses. Spears uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tahal's guard. Nice move by Spears!

Tahal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Spears working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tahal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Spears as he avoids it easily.
Spears is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Tahal.

Tahal tries a head kick but it misses.
Tahal throws a head kick but Spears moves out of range.

Tahal rushes Spears and presses him up against the cage.

Tahal manages to break the clinch.

Tahal throws a wild body kick that Spears sees coming a mile off.

Tahal takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Tahal gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Spears with a flurry of punches that miss.
Spears throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Spears stands up from Tahal's guard - Spears perhaps looking for a knockout.
Tahal misses with a takedown attempt - Spears sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Spears closes the distance and pushes Tahal back into the cage.

Tahal is trying to push Spears away but Spears has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Spears lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Spears throws a head punch that misses.
Tahal jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Spears walks away with a smile on his face. Tahal gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Buford Spears has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalid Tahal.

Tahal keeps the fight on the outside.
Tahal throws a head kick that misses.

Spears scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Tahal tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Spears working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Tahal turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Spears off and cradles Tahal's limp body as Spears celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Buford Spears!
In defeat, Khalid Tahal stepped up to the mic, saying 'Sorry i had a bad day '.
