PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between The King Bjj (ranked 4233 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gold Man (ranked 24454 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bjj might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ven y criticame. Gold Man has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The King Bjj!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gold Man!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man shoots in but Bjj avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bjj drops down looking for a counter takedown but Man sprawls and moves away.
Man shoots in for a takedown but Bjj shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Man tries to land a body kick

and Bjj decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Man's guard.
Bjj advances to half guard.

Bjj is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Man is just riding it out for now. Bjj eventually gives up the hold.
Bjj wants to pass the guard but Man is defending well.
Bjj will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bjj passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Man!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bjj wants to take Man's back here but Man is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Bjj forces the positional change into back control.

Bjj really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Man tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Man is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Bjj has taken his back.

Bjj looking to break Man's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Man remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Bjj will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bjj is breathing heavily.
Man tries to escape the position.

Bjj is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Man knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Man for a finish.
Bjj gets his hands free as Man looks to control.
You can see the frustration on Man's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Man manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bjj's guard. Nice work there by Man.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Man trying to control but Bjj is working from the bottom.

Man lands a couple of elbows.
Man wants to control from the top but Bjj keeps moving.
Bjj looking for a sweep. Not yet Bjj, not yet.
Man trying to control the position from guard on top but Bjj is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bjj wants to hit a switch here but Man passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Bjj there!
Man tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Bjj looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
It looks like Man might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The King Bjj dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Man dives in and grabs Bjj's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bjj pushes down on Man's head and hops out.
Bjj changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Man looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bjj is fending him off so far but Man persists. Nope, Bjj circles away and we're back to standing.
Bjj drops down looking for a counter takedown but Man sprawls and moves away.

Bjj gets a double leg takedown into Man's guard.
Man should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bjj works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bjj trying to pass the guard but Man defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Man wants to control but Bjj is keeping busy.
Bjj is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Man!
Bjj prevents Man from getting the reversal.
Bjj is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Man can do to turn this around?

Bjj works his way to his opponent's back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Man wants to control his opponent's hands but Bjj gets his hands free.

Man is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bjj gets his way!
Man trying to control the action but Bjj just sinks the hooks in.

Bjj is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Man defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Bjj is not going to allow Man to sit and survive in this position.

Man breaks Bjj's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Man is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Man must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bjj is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Man connects with a couple of short punches.
Man pushes down on Bjj's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Man looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Bjj wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Man wants to take a breather but Bjj is having none of it.
Man controlling the action here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Man lands a nice short elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The King Bjj dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Man moves in looking to clinch but Bjj pushes him off.
Bjj tries to counter with a takedown but Man is quick to defend against it.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bjj swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bjj feinted with a counter takedown.
Man tries to clinch up but Bjj circles away and keeps his distance.

and Bjj decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Man's guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Man connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Man sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Man can't control as he wanted to and Bjj manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Bjj is not content to let Man control the position.
Man takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bjj gets back to full guard.
Man is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Man is in close to Bjj's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bjj looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Man controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Man pushing down on Bjj's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Man landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Man working over Bjj with some ground and pound. Bjj looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Man takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Man tries to pass to full mount but Bjj defends it.

Man is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The King Bjj is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Well, if Man is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gold Man comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bjj has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble The King Bjj misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
