PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elton Frost (ranked 5067 p4p, 0 weight class) and Audell Tillman (ranked 5059 p4p, 450 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elton Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Audell Tillman!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frost decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frost working the head and body with strikes.
Tillman regains full guard. Nicely done.
Tillman trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tillman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Frost is looking to work some ground and pound but Tillman has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Frost accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Frost keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tillman's head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Frost is looking to clinch but Tillman is avoiding it.

Tillman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Frost is trying to defend but Tillman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Frost makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Frost.
Tillman controlling from the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tillman passes Frost's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tillman connects with a nice short shot to Frost's temple.
Frost has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tillman is trying to work for a kimura but Frost is defending well.

Frost doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Frost fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tillman avoids it really well and circles away.

Tillman drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tillman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Frost is proving hard to escape from.
Tillman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Tillman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Frost has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Tillman has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Frost tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Tillman is working for a guillotine from mount but Frost frees his head quite easily.

Tillman lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Frost.

I would not like to be Frost right now.

What can Frost do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Tillman scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Frost is looking for a way out.

Audell Tillman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Frost manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tillman manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Frost shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tillman's guard.
Frost trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Tillman wants to stand and escape but Frost is having none of it.
Tillman is trying to control the position but Frost postures up.

Tillman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frost doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frost manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Audell Tillman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Elton Frost.
Well Tillman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
