PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Donte Delgado (ranked 13946 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 5030 p4p, 0 weight class). Brock Lesnar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donte Delgado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Delgado circles away from the clinch attempt.
Delgado seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Lesnar dives in and scores a takedown into Delgado's guard.

Delgado pushes Lesnar off and gets back to his feet.

Delgado wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lesnar lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Lesnar is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Delgado's half guard.

Delgado has one foot on Lesnar's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Lesnar manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Delgado on his heels. He'll look to pass Delgado's guard now, I'm sure.

Delgado manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Delgado's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lesnar feints a jab promting Delgado to slip. Lesnar then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Delgado slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Lesnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lesnar wants to get back to his feet but Delgado is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Delgado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Delgado decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lesnar throws a knee to the head but misses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Delgado thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lesnar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Lesnar is trying to trip Delgado. He has hold of a leg but Delgado is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lesnar persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Delgado looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lesnar feints and then cracks Delgado's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Delgado down.

Lesnar pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lesnar lands with a kick to the ribs.

Delgado scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Delgado is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Lesnar presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Delgado has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lesnar regains guard immediately.

Lesnar has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Delgado uses from the top position.

Delgado seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lesnar for as long as he can get away with.

Delgado has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Delgado sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

It looked like Delgado was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Delgado takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Lesnar lands with a good body shot.

Delgado bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lesnar bucks up and tries to throw Delgado off but instead Delgado has got his back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
I would not like to be Lesnar right now.

Delgado lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Delgado gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
