Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Rios (ranked 2446 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wolfgang Schneeweiss (ranked 3969 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Wolfgang Schneeweiss!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schneeweiss changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rios looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Rios keeps Schneeweiss under control for a moment.
Rios is trying to control Schneeweiss's posture but Schneeweiss avoids it.
Schneeweiss is looking to take a break and control but Rios is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rios is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rios tries to improve position but can't.

Schneeweiss is trying to maintain the position but Rios is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rios connects with a couple of short punches.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rios misses with a takedown attempt - Schneeweiss sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rios is fighting to break Schneeweiss's control of his arms but Schneeweiss is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schneeweiss is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rios defends well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rios wants to get up but he can't break Schneeweiss's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


No luck for Schneeweiss with that takedown attempt.
Rios scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Schneeweiss doesn't seem bothered though.

Rios looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Schneeweiss!

Schneeweiss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rios takes a swing at Schneeweiss's ribcage but misses.
Schneeweiss shoots for a double leg takedown but Rios sprawls well. He's pushed Schneeweiss's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rios rushes Schneeweiss and presses him up against the cage.
Rios tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Schneeweiss's elbow.
Schneeweiss working hard to break the clinch.

Rios has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Schneeweiss is trying to keep an underhook but Rios manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Schneeweiss has one foot on Rios's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A head kick from Schneeweiss lands but Rios takes it in his stride.

Rios gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rios is trying to drag Schneeweiss to the mat but Schneeweiss just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Schneeweiss blocks a head kick by Rios.
Schneeweiss fails with the takedown.
Rios tries to counter with a takedown but Schneeweiss is quick to defend against it.

Schneeweiss shoots for a double leg takedown but Rios sprawls well. He's pushed Schneeweiss's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rios shoots in and bounces Schneeweiss off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Schneeweiss is striking from the bottom but Rios uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Rios looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Schneeweiss wants to get back to full guard.
Rios seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
