PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rolland Foley (ranked 5543 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Cormier (ranked 5383 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rolland Foley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Danny Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier shoots for a takedown but Foley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cormier tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cormier somewhat.

and Foley moves into the clinch.
Rolland Foley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Cormier.
A frustrated look appears on Foley's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Foley is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cormier is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Foley to the mat. Foley regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Foley wants to get back to his feet but Cormier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cormier trying to control the position from guard on top but Foley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cormier drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Foley dives on top into guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.

Foley is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cormier is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cormier has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cormier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cormier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cormier is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cormier looking to sit in guard and control but Foley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Foley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Cormier has control of Foley's left arm, preventing Foley from doing any damage.
Foley content to stall in guard here.
Foley wants to get up but he can't break Cormier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cormier looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cormier pulls Foley in close to his closed guard and prevents Foley from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cormier wants to stand up but Foley is controlling him.
Foley's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Cormier keeping moving, preventing Foley from controlling successfully.
Cormier has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Foley throws a strike but Cormier rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cormier looking to sit in guard and control but Foley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Foley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Foley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Foley lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rolland Foley dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Cormier bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Cormier has hold of Foley's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Foley tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cormier cranks the arm and Foley screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Foley, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Danny Cormier!
