Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ned Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stannis Gianoppolis!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bright fails with the takedown.

Bright gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gianoppolis lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gianoppolis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Gianoppolis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Gianoppolis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bright knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gianoppolis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gianoppolis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
What's Bright going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
You can see the frustration on Bright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gianoppolis blocks the strikes from Bright.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gianoppolis throws a sloppy head kick and Bright moves out of range easily.
Bright is looking for a counter combo.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bright misses with a takedown attempt - Gianoppolis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bright is looking to stand up but Gianoppolis isn't so interested in that idea.

Bright has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gianoppolis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bright.
Bright really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bright is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gianoppolis has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Gianoppolis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bright tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gianoppolis presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Gianoppolis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bright wants to hold on but Gianoppolis pushes him away.
Gianoppolis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gianoppolis content just to control the position here.
Bright wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Gianoppolis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bright knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bright for a finish.

Gianoppolis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bright is defending well though. Gianoppolis let's go of the attempt for now.

Bright looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gianoppolis has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Bright's body.
I really don't envy Bright right now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bright is trying to stand back up.

Stannis Gianoppolis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gianoppolis trying to control the position from guard on top but Bright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gianoppolis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bright did well to prevent Gianoppolis getting side control.
