The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baertum throws out a loose jab but Filch uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've been informed that Baertum has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Baertum ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Baertum throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Filch just misses with a punch to the body.
A nice side step and Baertum releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Filch tries to score a power double leg takedown but Baertum sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Filch somewhat.

Filch fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Baertum to the ground. Filch is now in Baertum's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Filch tries to free his leg and advance position but Baertum is retaining full guard.

Baertum is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Filch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Baertum stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Baertum wants it to stay on the feet.

Filch moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

A looping hook to the body misses from Baertum. Filch does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zilch Filch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baertum looks to score with a jab to the body but Filch is just out of range.

Filch lunges at Baertum with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Baertum's hand.
