Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerrell Goodman (ranked 5108 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otong Dong (ranked 5114 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerrell Goodman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Otong Dong!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dong gets tackled into the cage by Goodman. Goodman maintains the clinch.
Dong tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Dong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dong misses with a body punch.
Dong is defending well against a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman is looking for a takedown.
Goodman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dong pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerrell Goodman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Goodman is trying to drag Dong to the mat but Dong just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Dong can't find room to land a body shot as Goodman controls the action.
Goodman tries for a takedown but Dong manages to get underhooks.
Goodman has Dong pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dong manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Goodman blocks a body shot from Dong.
Dong misses with the head strike.
A short right from Dong on the inside.
Dong goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Goodman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dong is stalling here.

Dong lands a nice shot to the body.
Dong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Goodman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dong gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dong lands a body punch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dong tries a body shot but Goodman blocks it.
Goodman is looking to take this one to the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Goodman has Dong pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dong manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dong turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Dong manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otong Dong dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Goodman fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dong is out of range.
Goodman tries to clinch
and Dong counters with a nice body kick.

and Dong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Dong drives through with a takedown into Goodman's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Goodman manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Dong is defending well.

Dong throws a punch but it's blocked by Goodman.
Dong struggles to land a body shot inside as Goodman controls his hands.
Goodman prevents a body shot from Dong.
Dong tries to land knees in the clinch but Goodman avoids the damage to the body.
Goodman is trying to drag Dong to the mat but Dong just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Dong lands a takedown into guard.

Goodman controlling the position.
Dong tries to stand but Goodman is controlling from the bottom.
Goodman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Goodman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dong manages to get himself to full guard.

Goodman wants to stand but Dong has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dong is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Dong tries to work over Goodman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Goodman managing to block the knees to the body from Dong.
Dong doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Goodman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dong gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerrell Goodman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dong takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Goodman prevents a body shot from Dong.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otong Dong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Goodman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dong moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Goodman gets tackled into the cage by Dong. Dong maintains the clinch.
Dong tries to throw a body punch but Goodman avoids it by throwing Dong back against the cage.
Dong dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Dong turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dong's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Dong tries to stand and escape but Goodman actually recovers to full guard.
Goodman working a defensive guard but Dong manages to pass into side control anyway.
Goodman gets back to half guard.
Dong stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Goodman is not content to let Dong control the position.
Dong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goodman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dong stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Goodman to get to his feet.

Dong gets tackled into the cage by Goodman. Goodman maintains the clinch.

Dong prevents a takedown attempt there.
Goodman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dong tries a body shot but Goodman blocks it.

Otong Dong is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Otong Dong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
