Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Abdul Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamrock throws a head kick but Foster moves out of range.
Foster attempts a counter takedown but Shamrock avoids it well and moves away.
A jab from Foster finds it's way through Shamrock's defenses.
Foster wants to clinch.
And Shamrock tries to counter it with a takedown but Foster pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Shamrock shoots in looking for a takedown. Foster tries to sprawl out of it but Shamrock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Foster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foster drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shamrock sprawls and moves away.
Shamrock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shamrock misses with a jab to the body
and Foster counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Foster lands with a kick to the temple. Shamrock shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Foster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shamrock but Shamrock pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Foster really is a fat lump.
Foster staying out of range there.

Shamrock moves into range and clinches up with Foster.
Foster drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shamrock pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shamrock throws a quick inside leg kick.
Foster avoids the head kick by Shamrock.

and Shamrock counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Abdul Foster has been cut.

Foster drives through with a takedown into Shamrock's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Shamrock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Abdul Foster will probably get the nod.

Shamrock is keen to just control but Foster is a slippery customer.

Foster wants to control but Shamrock is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shamrock looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Shamrock is looking to stall here but Foster recovers full guard.
Shamrock is looking to stand up but Foster won't let him.

Shamrock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Shamrock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Foster swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shamrock slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Shamrock connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Foster momentarily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shamrock blocks a head kick by Foster.

and Shamrock counters with a straight right hand.

Shamrock drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Foster manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Foster is working for takedown but Shamrock is calmly controlling the position for now.
Foster trying to control the position but instead, Shamrock has worked for underhooks and has pushed Foster into the cage.

Foster shoots in for a double leg but Shamrock sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Shamrock feints and as Foster raises his hands in defense, Shamrock changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Foster pushes Shamrock off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Foster tries to kick Shamrock off in order to stand up. Shamrock Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Shamrock looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Foster!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Shamrock takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
