Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Staartjes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hans Staartjes looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hans Staartjes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Carter!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staartjes fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Carter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carter tries for a kimura but Staartjes is defending well.
Staartjes takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Carter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter staying calm.

Carter tries for a kimura but Staartjes is defending well.

Carter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Staartjes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Staartjes is breathing heavily.

Carter tries for a kimura but Staartjes is defending well.
Staartjes is not content to let Carter control the position.

Carter goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Staartjes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Carter but great work by Staartjes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carter is looking to regain half guard here but Staartjes keeps moving and retains side control.
Carter sneaks back into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carter actively working from the bottom here.
Staartjes controlling the pace.
Carter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Staartjes trying to pass the guard but Carter defending well.
Carter keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Carter is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Staartjes pulls his head out easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carter tries to roll over but Staartjes keeps him under control.
Carter wants to control but Staartjes is keeping busy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carter tests Staartjes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Carter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Staartjes's waist but Staartjes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carter off to one side.
Staartjes with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Staartjes slips a jab and a cross from Carter.
Staartjes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Carter at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Staartjes as he avoids it easily.
Staartjes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hans Staartjes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Carter.
Carter tries for a takedown but Staartjes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Staartjes lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Staartjes.
Carter takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Staartjes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Carter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Left hook, right uppercut from Carter.
Carter misses with a lunging right hand
and Staartjes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Carter fails with the takedown

and Staartjes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Staartjes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andrew Carter will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Staartjes throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Carter keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


Staartjes is rocked!

Carter shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Staartjes is on queer street and Carter is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Andrew Carter!
