Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kleber Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luan Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sousa's choice of entrance music: Voodoo Child. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sousa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Sousa is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paiva has escaped the position, nice work there.
Paiva wants to get back to his feet.
Sousa trying to control the position but Paiva is working away.

Sousa tries for a kimura but Paiva is defending well.

Sousa swings around for an armbar but Paiva sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sousa's guard.

Paiva stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Paiva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paiva tries to clinch but Sousa is having none of it.

Paiva lands a nice looking body kick.
Sousa looks gassed!
Paiva takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Sousa swats away the attempt to clinch by Paiva.
Paiva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paiva throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sousa.

It looks like Luan Sousa has been cut.
Paiva moves in looking to clinch but Sousa pushes him off.
Sousa fails to land the takedown.
Paiva lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sousa backs up against the cage.
A jab-cross combination lands for Paiva and sends Sousa crashing to the mat! Paiva follows him down to the mat - Sousa regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Sousa is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paiva tries to stand and escape but Sousa is controlling the position.
Sousa is still in real trouble! Can Paiva finish him?
Sousa seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sousa with the active half guard here but Paiva passes nicely into side control.

Paiva decides to stand back up.
Paiva throws a nice head kick!
Paiva scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Sousa sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
The fight stays on the outside here - Paiva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Paiva wants to clinch.

Paiva moves into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sousa fails to pull guard.

Paiva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Paiva is looking to clinch.
Paiva lands a head kick. Sousa smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kleber Paiva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Paiva fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sousa takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Sousa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kleber Paiva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luan Sousa.

Paiva gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sousa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Paiva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Paiva has escaped and now he's on top!

Paiva stands up and waves to Sousa to follow him.
Paiva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sousa clinches.
Paiva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Sousa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Paiva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sousa has hold of one of Paiva's legs. Paiva is fighting the takedown attempt but Sousa gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sousa trying to control the position from guard on top but Paiva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Paiva wants to stand up but Sousa is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Paiva lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sousa backs up against the cage.
Sousa wants to clinch but Paiva slips to the side
and Paiva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Paiva connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Paiva doesn't manage to clinch there - Sousa circles away.

Sousa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sousa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Paiva stops Sousa from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Sousa is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Sousa extends the arm and Paiva is forced to tap!
