PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between jk o (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leyton Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power has chosen I gotta Feelin' as his entrance music. Leyton Power will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, jk o!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Leyton Power!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
o shoots in looking for a takedown. Power tries to sprawl out of it but o keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Power manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Power wants to clinch.
o circles away from the clinch attempt.

o shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
o trying to control from half guard but Power is working away.
o is really struggling to control Power but he's trying to hold on to the position.
o thows a huge punch but Power dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
o not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Power slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Power wants to stand and escape but o is having none of it.

Power looking for a guillotine here but o defends easily.
o looking to sit in guard and control but Power gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

o working for a triangle but Power defends it easily.
Power trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Power won't allow o to get back to his feet.
o keeping moving, preventing Power from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Power is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Power would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
o is breathing heavily.
Power preventing the sweep.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Power is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
o takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
o throws a head kick but Power moves out of range.
Power is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

o fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Power sprawls well initially but o persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

o is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Power as he works his way to full guard.
Power is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Power throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Power is on top in guard.
o knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Power on the ground.
o is trying to control the position but Power postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that jk o will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Power lands a jab to o's midsection.
o swats away the attempt to clinch by Power.
Power pulls out of a head kick attempt.
jk o is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

o drives through and clinches with Power against the cage.
Power lands a body punch.
The is referee keeping an eye on o - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Power tries to break the clinch but o is controlling the position.
o avoiding damage as Power throws knees to the body.

Power successfully pulls guard.
Power trying to keep a closed guard but o is proving a slippery customer.

Power escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. o gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Power keeping moving, preventing o from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Power has o pulled in close to control his posture.

Power is looking to sinch up a triangle. o throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Power's body to avoid the submission. Power has instead reached around o's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Power arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Leyton Power!
