Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Landon Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Smith!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rogers is thwarting Smith's attempts to control the position.
Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rogers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rogers's back!
Rogers trying to control the action but Smith just sinks the hooks in.
Rogers is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Smith is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Rogers. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Rogers turns into Smith and is now in his guard.
Smith is looking to stand up but Rogers isn't so interested in that idea.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rogers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smith works his way to full guard. Good work.

Rogers preventing the sweep.
Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Smith wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rogers is now in half guard.

Rogers is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Rogers throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rogers manages to get to full guard.
Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Rogers has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Rogers stands up and waves to Smith to follow him.
Smith fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rogers is out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ray Smith will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rogers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rogers avoids the head kick by Smith.
Rogers is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Smith.
Rogers thuds a left hand into Smith's body.
Sloppy strikes from Smith. Those never looked like landing.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Smith moves nicely into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers is looking for a sweep.

Smith tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
You can see the frustration on Rogers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rogers sneaks back into half guard.
Rogers is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Smith preventing the sweep.
Smith is stalling in the full guard.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Rogers is keeping the position.
Smith sitting in guard here, content to control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Smith is working Rogers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Smith content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Rogers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.
Smith would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Smith lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Smith content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Rogers lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rogers is looking to improve his position.
Smith wants to free his trapped foot but Rogers is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rogers tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith lands a nice short elbow.
Ray Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but Rogers defends it.
Smith is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Smith wants to stand up but Rogers has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Smith is looking for a kimura but Rogers is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith is thwarting Rogers's attempts to control the position.
Smith moves into full mount! Rogers won't be happy about that!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Rogers has his takedown stuffed
and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


Rogers is rocked!

Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Oh Rogers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith stalling against the cage.
Rogers has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rogers tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.
Rogers is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Rogers with a poor takedown
and Smith counters with a nice body shot.

Smith looking to score a takedown here. Rogers is defending well but Smith drives through and ends up in Rogers's guard.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet but Smith passes into half guard.

Smith wants to stand up but Rogers has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Smith controlling the pace.
Smith lands a big elbow - Rogers is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Smith!
