Matba is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: B.Y.O.B .. Helio Santos Jr has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Helio Santos Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hadjiril Matba!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Matba.
Matba lands a nice shot that snaps Santos Jr's head back.
Santos Jr takes one on the button.
Matba lands a jab to the nose.
Matba throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Santos Jr.

Santos Jr decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Matba gets full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matba manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Santos Jr manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Matba advances position into side control!

Matba is working to tighten his grip on Santos Jr's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Santos Jr has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Matba is really squeezing tight and eventually Santos Jr passes out! Matba breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Hadjiril Matba!
Hadjiril Matba looked relieved post fight as he said the following; '"I have nothing against gay people. Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will."'.
Helio Santos Jr was interviewed post fight and said 'Ya know, its hard to lose after all the effort being put into this, but ya know sometimes things just don't go your way in there'.
