Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ousmane Onyedikachi (ranked 3296 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rigoberto Martinez (ranked 4035 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ousmane Onyedikachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rigoberto Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez darts in looking for a takedown but Onyedikachi gets double underhooks and turns Martinez into the cage.
Martinez moves in looking to clinch but Onyedikachi pushes him off.
Martinez moves to clinch but Onyedikachi breaks away
and Onyedikachi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Rigoberto Martinez has been cut.
Martinez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Onyedikachi defends well and Martinez ends up having to push Onyedikachi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It looked like Onyedikachi was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Onyedikachi moves into the clinch.

Onyedikachi has hold of one of Martinez's legs. Martinez is fighting the takedown attempt but Onyedikachi gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Martinez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Onyedikachi working some strikes from top position.

Martinez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Onyedikachi.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Onyedikachi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Martinez controls Onyedikachi momentarily but Onyedikachi frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez is looking to sweep but instead, Onyedikachi has passed into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Onyedikachi lands a nice short elbow.
Martinez looks winded!
Martinez wants to improve his position but Onyedikachi is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Onyedikachi controlling the action here.
Onyedikachi drops an elbow to the side of Martinez's head.

Martinez moves into full guard.
Onyedikachi stays in close to Martinez's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Onyedikachi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Onyedikachi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martinez on the ground.

Onyedikachi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Onyedikachi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Onyedikachi tries to stand and escape but Martinez is controlling the position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ground and pound from Onyedikachi.
Onyedikachi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Martinez looking for submissions off his back.
Onyedikachi controlling the action here.
Onyedikachi drops an elbow to the side of Martinez's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Onyedikachi is taking a breather. Martinez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Onyedikachi dives in and scores a takedown into Martinez's guard.
Martinez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Ousmane Onyedikachi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Onyedikachi stands up over Martinez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.


Martinez is rocked!
Onyedikachi stays in close to Martinez's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Martinez is breathing heavily.

Onyedikachi's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Onyedikachi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Onyedikachi stands up over Martinez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Martinez is still in real trouble! Can Onyedikachi finish him?
Onyedikachi looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Martinez seems to have recovered his senses.
Onyedikachi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martinez can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Martinez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Onyedikachi is one step ahead there.
Onyedikachi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Martinez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Onyedikachi controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A combination from Onyedikachi does no damage.
Martinez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Onyedikachi circles away.

Onyedikachi content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Onyedikachi lands some shots froms side control.
Onyedikachi happy to just control the position for now.
Onyedikachi lands a strong strike to the head of Martinez. That's dazed him! Onyedikachi looking to finish here. Martinez is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Onyedikachi lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
