PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Massimo Caraglio (ranked 5496 p4p, 565 weight class) and Will Thomas (ranked 23308 p4p, 694 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Massimo Caraglio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caraglio looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Thomas blocks a head kick by Caraglio.
Caraglio throws a head kick but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas fails in his attempt to clinch.

Caraglio moves into range and clinches up with Thomas.
Thomas gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Massimo Caraglio has been cut.
Caraglio lands an elbow that stopped Thomas in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Will Thomas has been cut.
Thomas on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Caraglio prevents a takedown attempt there.
Caraglio using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Thomas has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Caraglio counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Caraglio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Caraglio counters with a series of strikes. Thomas will be more careful next time no doubt.
Thomas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Caraglio defends it nicely.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Caraglio tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thomas swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Caraglio will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thomas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Caraglio throws a push kick but Thomas slaps the foot to one side.
Thomas dives in and grabs Caraglio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caraglio pushes down on Thomas's head and hops out.
It looked like Caraglio wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Thomas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Caraglio is trying to defend but Thomas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Caraglio, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
