The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wahl paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Grant tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wahl swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Grant does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Grant throws a right and a left that both miss.
Paul Grant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No joy there for Grant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wahl throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Grant counters with a nice leg kick.
Wahl swings for the body but Grant moves out of range.

Wahl darts in and clinches Grant up against the cage.

Grant manages to pull guard.
Wahl tries to free his leg and advance position but Grant is retaining full guard.
Wahl scoring with some ground and pound.
Grant not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wahl stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grant swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Grant manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wahl is in all sorts of trouble here.

Grant wants to finish this one by submission but Wahl is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Grant.
Wahl is breathing heavily.
Wahl is controlling an arm, preventing Grant from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Grant is looking to stand but Grant has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Wahl tries to hold on but Grant postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grant takes Wahl's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Wahl is in trouble.
Wahl is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Grant is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Wahl has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Grant has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Wahl taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Grant doesn't care though - he's delighted!
