Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donny Banks (ranked 5837 p4p, 0 weight class) and Graig Jimenez (ranked 23532 p4p, 0 weight class). Graig Jimenez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Donny Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Graig Jimenez!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Chris Dean and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jimenez keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Banks content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Banks stops Jimenez from getting back to his feet.
Jimenez is looking to get back to is feet but Banks passes into side control.
Jimenez tries to improve position but can't.
Banks in side control lands a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Banks stands up and beckons Jimenez to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jimenez.

Jimenez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Banks on his heels. He'll look to pass Banks's guard now, I'm sure.

Jimenez drops back looking for a leg! Banks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Banks manages to kick Jimenez off! Jimenez jumps back into Banks's guard.

Jimenez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jimenez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jimenez is looking to work some ground and pound but Banks has wrist control.

Jimenez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jimenez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Banks manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jimenez has Banks in his guard.

Banks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Banks wants to get up but he can't break Jimenez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jimenez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Banks defends well.

That was a close round but I would say that Donny Banks will probably get the nod.

Donny Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Graig Jimenez.

Banks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Banks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Banks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jimenez can do to turn this around?

Banks looks for the body kick but Jimenez saw that one coming.

Banks tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jimenez defends well and Banks ends up having to push Jimenez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Banks stuffs the takedown attempt from Jimenez. Jimenez gets slowly back to his feet.
Jimenez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Banks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Banks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banks wants it to stay on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jimenez enables Banks to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jimenez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Banks is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Banks's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jimenez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jimenez shoots in looking for a takedown but Banks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jimenez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Donny Banks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jimenez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Banks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well Banks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
