Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mohammed Baly (ranked 4922 p4p, 381 weight class) and Richard Richards (ranked 3571 p4p, 310 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Richards!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Richards enables Baly to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Richards manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Baly chips away with some ground and pound.
Baly wants to control from the top but Richards keeps moving.
Baly lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baly won't allow Richards to sweep him here.
Baly wants to pass the guard but Richards is keeping the position.
Baly throwing strikes from guard but Richards blocks nicely.

I've been told that Richards has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Richards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Richards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Richard Richards showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Richards dives in and grabs Baly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baly pushes down on Richards's head and hops out.

Baly tries to keep at a distance but Richards has taken the fight into the clinch.

Baly is fighting off a takedown attempt but Richards is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Baly to the mat. Baly regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Richard Richards comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Richards has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
