PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Rain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas comes into the arena with Jack Vegas by MNEMIC blaring out of the sound system. Rain has chosen Alter Bridge - Metalingus as his entrance music. Jack Vegas is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Vegas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Rain!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rain fails to land the takedown.
Vegas lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Ryan Rain has been cut.

Rain tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vegas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Vegas politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vegas prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas is looking to take a break and control but Rain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vegas decides to stand back up. Vegas steps back and let's Rain get back to his feet.

Rain is not content to let Vegas control the position.
Rain throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Vegas tries to advance position but instead Rain slips a leg back in to half guard.
Rain holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Rain regains full guard. Nicely done.

Rain looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vegas is controlling him.
Rain manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Vegas wants to control but Rain is having none of it.

Vegas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vegas tries to get out of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vegas connects with a couple of short punches.
Rain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vegas slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Vegas decides to stand back up. Vegas steps back and let's Rain get back to his feet.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rain throws a sloppy head kick and Vegas moves out of range easily.
Vegas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

It looks like Jack Vegas has been cut.
Vegas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rain circles away.
Vegas throws a nice looking combination but Rain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Jack Vegas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vegas feints and as Rain raises his hands in defense, Vegas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Rain is working an open guard so Vegas takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Vegas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rain manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vegas manages to get himself to full guard.

Rain gets control of Vegas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rain will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vegas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Vegas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Vegas is working Rain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Vegas throws a strike but Rain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Vegas seems to be working for a kimura but Rain defends the submission attempt.

A close second round but Ryan Rain will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Rain takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Vegas.
I think Vegas has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
