PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Master Yoda (ranked 4432 p4p, 192 weight class) and Sub Machine (ranked 5458 p4p, 217 weight class). Yoda kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Seagulls. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sub Machine!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoda lands a jab to Machine's midsection.
Yoda throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Machine stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd cheers as Yoda lands an impressive looking overhand right. Machine doesn't seem phased though.
Horrible takedown attempt by Machine or perhaps it was just good defense by Yoda, which made it look bad.
Machine closes the distance and clinches up with Yoda, looking for a takedown. Machine pushes Yoda against the cage but Yoda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yoda punishes Machine's body with a nice straight punch.
Machine throws a lazy body kick
and Yoda counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Yoda scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Yoda keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Yoda counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Machine moves to clinch but Yoda breaks away
and Yoda counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Machine looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yoda is fending him off so far but Machine persists. Nope, Yoda circles away and we're back to standing.
A quick step to the side and Yoda tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Machine shoots for a takedown but Yoda saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Machine shoots in and drives through. Yoda sprawls well.
Yoda looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Yoda's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Yoda duly obliges.
Machine chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Yoda can pounce on him.
Machine throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yoda lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Machine at a distance.
Yoda lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Yoda fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Yoda punishes Machine's body with a nice straight punch.
Machine shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yoda as he jumps to the side.
Yoda tests Machine's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Master Yoda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Machine takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice jab there from Yoda.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Yoda. Machine shrugs it off though.
Yoda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Machine with the counter takedown but Yoda avoids it easily.
Yoda ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Machine showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Yoda.
Machine gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Yoda.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Yoda drives through and clinches with Machine against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Master Yoda dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Machine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Yoda defends well and Machine ends up having to push Yoda into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Machine might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Yoda has got the better of the exchanges.

Machine takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Machine's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yoda connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Machine scrambles back to his feet.
Machine has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yoda pulls Machine in close to his closed guard and prevents Machine from doing any damage or advancing position.
Machine passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Yoda knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machine on the ground.

Machine tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Machine has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Machine has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Yoda is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Machine yanks on the arm and Yoda is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Machine.
