Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Vladmir Shmakov (ranked 6185 p4p, 575 weight class) and Flip Fortuin (ranked 5968 p4p, 566 weight class). Fortuin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by You shook me all night long. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vladmir Shmakov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Flip Fortuin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Fortuin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shmakov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A jab from Fortuin misses.
Vladmir Shmakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fortuin tries to clinch up but Shmakov circles away and keeps his distance.
Shmakov misses with a straight right.
Shmakov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fortuin tries a head kick but it misses.
Shmakov throws a sloppy head kick and Fortuin moves out of range easily.
Fortuin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fortuin jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fortuin wants to clinch.
Shmakov throws a head kick but Fortuin moves out of range.
Fortuin lands with a cross.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fortuin fails with an attempt to clinch.
A head kick misses from Fortuin.
Fortuin misses the shot to the body.
Fortuin connects with a right hand. Shmakov shakes it off.
Fortuin throws a head kick but Shmakov moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Shmakov misses its target.
Fortuin moves into range and connects with a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shmakov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shmakov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fortuin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fortuin avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Fortuin now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Fortuin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Shmakov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A lazy body kick from Shmakov
and Fortuin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Shmakov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Shmakov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Shmakov misses with a head kick.
Shmakov misses with the body kick
and Fortuin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shmakov takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fortuin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fortuin throws a head kick but Shmakov moves out of range.
Fortuin slips a jab from Shmakov.
A slow jab from Fortuin misses its intended target.
Shmakov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fortuin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shmakov throws a leg kick that is checked
and Fortuin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fortuin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Shmakov closes the distance and pushes Fortuin back into the ropes.
Fortuin avoiding damage as Shmakov throws knees to the body.
Fortuin stalling in the clinch but Shmakov improves position.
Fortuin trying to stall but Shmakov improves his position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Fortuin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Fortuin tries to stall but Shmakov uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Fortuin is looking to control Shmakov's arms but Shmakov gets an underhook and turns him. Now Fortuin has his back to the ropes.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Flip Fortuin.
Fortuin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fortuin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shmakov. Shmakov obviously looking to wear him down.
Fortuin wants to clinch up but Shmakov keeps it at a distance.
Shmakov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shmakov misses with a low kick.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fortuin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Fortuin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shmakov. Shmakov circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shmakov looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Fortuin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shmakov had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Fortuin blocks a jab.
Shmakov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Fortuin moves out of range of the body kick.
Shmakov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fortuin checks a leg kick.
Fortuin throws out a counter right but Shmakov avoids it with no problem.
A head kick misses from Shmakov.
Shmakov throws a wild body kick that Fortuin sees coming a mile off.
Shmakov lands with a kick to the temple. Fortuin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Fortuin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Shmakov misses with the body kick
enabling Fortuin to counter with a crisp jab.

Shmakov walks into a big right hand from Fortuin and goes down! The referee sends Fortuin to a neutral corner as Shmakov gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.


Shmakov is rocked!


It looks like Vladmir Shmakov has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fortuin throws out a head kick that Shmakov doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Shmakov crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Shmakov's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
Oh Shmakov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fortuin cracks Shmakov with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Shmakov is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Shmakov is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Shmakov could not beat the count!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Flip Fortuin!
Flip Fortuin decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
