PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roadman Shaq (ranked 662 p4p, 77 weight class) and Bruce Allen (ranked 2338 p4p, 218 weight class). Shaq comes to the cage accompanied by Mans Not Hot. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roadman Shaq!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Allen!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaq gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Allen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shaq pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Shaq changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Allen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Allen regains half guard, as Shaq was trying to land strikes.
Shaq throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Allen to regain full guard.

Allen controls Shaq momentarily but Shaq frees himself.

Shaq throws an elbow that misses. Allen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shaq's guard. Nice move by Allen!


Shaq has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Allen is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Shaq has clasped his hands together around Allen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Shaq creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Allen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Allen is looking for a sweep.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Allen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shaq defends it well.
Allen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shaq sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Allen somewhat.

Shaq went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Shaq wants the takedown. Allen is fighting it off but Shaq persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Allen's guard against the cage.
Allen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Allen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Shaq is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Shaq is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Allen can't fight it off and eventually Shaq manages to take the fight to the floor. Allen looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A lazy body kick from Shaq

and Allen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Allen.
Shaq is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Allen dives into side control.

Allen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shaq keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Allen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Shaq wants to get back to his feet but Allen is dominant here and he's now got Shaq's back!
Shaq is trying to get back to his feet but Allen has full control of the position and if anything, Shaq has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Shaq clinches up with Allen and pushes him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Allen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shaq has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
