Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacko Freidman!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard shoots in for a double leg but Freidman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Freidman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Freidman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Freidman tries to free his leg and advance position but Bernard is retaining full guard.
Bernard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bernard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Freidman gets a takedown into half guard.
Freidman stops Bernard from getting back to his feet.
Freidman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bernard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Freidman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Freidman tries to pass to full mount but Bernard defends it.
Bernard is looking to control Freidman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bernard avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Freidman is taking a breather. Bernard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Freidman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Freidman not doing much here.
Bernard is trying to control but can't.
Freidman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bernard trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Bernard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Freidman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Freidman has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bernard's face.


It looks like Tod Bernard has been cut.
Bernard sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Freidman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Bernard looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Freidman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bernard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Freidman's waist but Freidman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bernard off to one side.
Jacko Freidman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bernard tries to sprawl but Freidman drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Freidman seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Bernard is looking to improve his position.
Freidman controlling the action here.

Bernard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Freidman is working away from the top position though.

Freidman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bernard is looking to improve his position.
Freidman wants to pass the guard but Bernard is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Freidman has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bernard defend it? Freidman steps over the head and cranks it - Bernard is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Freidman!
