Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paula Tejando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ranca Tampa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paula Tejando!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ranca Tampa!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tampa checks a leg kick nicely.
Tampa looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Tampa shoots for a takedown but Tejando saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Tampa. No joy for Tejando on that attempt.

Tejando closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tejando lands in his opponent's guard.
Tejando knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tampa on the ground.
Tejando seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tejando passes Tampa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Tejando is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tejando's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tejando stands up out of the half guard.
Tejando fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Tampa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tejando controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Tejando has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Tejando stands up over Tampa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Tejando stands and throws Tampa's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Tejando tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Tampa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tejando connects with a decent elbow.
Tampa avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Tejando.

Tejando decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Tejando shoots in for a takedown but Tampa shows good takedown defense.

Tejando closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Tejando throws an elbow but Tampa slips to the side and avoids it well.

Tampa can't do much from the bottom here.
Tejando working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Tejando could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tejando moves in looking to clinch but Tampa pushes him off.
Tejando fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tejando jabs at Tampa's body.
Tampa checks the leg kick nicely there.

Tejando rushes Tampa and presses him up against the cage.
Tejando is looking to break free of the clinch but Tampa has double underhooks.
Tampa fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Tejando gets control of Tampa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tejando will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Tejando had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tampa is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tejando Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tampa's back instead.
Tejando misses with a punch to the head.
Tampa is breathing heavily.
Will Tejando go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Tejando throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Tejando has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Tampa.
Tampa covering up well under a series of strikes from Tejando.
I would not like to be Tampa right now.
Tampa covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Tejando lands a shot to the head.
You can see the frustration on Tampa's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Tejando has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Tampa's body.

Tampa is trying to stand back up.
Tejando controlling the position well here. Tampa rolled but Tejando kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Tampa grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Tampa is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Tejando.
Tejando throwing damaging strikes from the back! Tampa could be in trouble here!
Tejando misses with an elbow to the head.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Tejando's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Tejando controlling the positon.

Tejando lands strikes to the head.
Paula Tejando overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tampa is trying to stand back up.
Good control from Tejando.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Tejando looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tejando wants to stand but Tampa has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Tejando wants to control but Tampa is keeping him busy.
Tejando with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Tejando is keen to just control but Tampa is a slippery customer.
Tampa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Paula Tejando just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Tejando blocks the body kick.
Tampa stuffs the takedown attempt from Tejando. Tejando gets slowly back to his feet.

Tejando is looking to land body kicks.
Tejando misses with a takedown attempt - Tampa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Tejando decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tejando moves nicely into side control.
Tejando trying to control the position but Tampa is working away.
Tampa is trying to get back to half guard.
Tejando passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Tampa!

Tejando lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Tampa is trying to escape the mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tampa can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tampa is trying desperately to improve position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tejando can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tampa is looking to escape.
Tejando thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tejando pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Tampa tries to buck Tejando off but he can't manage it.
Tejando tries to control but Tampa wriggling away.
Tejando throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tejando lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tampa hang on?

Paula Tejando showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Tejando has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
