Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Yestrish!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yestrish throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tyler counters with a takedown into side control.
Tyler scoring with punches and elbows.
Tyler trying to control the position but Yestrish is working away.

Tyler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Yestrish lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tyler circles away quickly and effectively.
Yestrish misses with a wild combination.
Tyler throws a big counter combination but Yestrish scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Tyler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tyler stands and steps away. Yestrish gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Yestrish throws a right hand that Tyler ducks under and follows up with a left that Tyler also avoids with ease.

Yestrish sneaks out the side door and pushes Tyler away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Tyler counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tyler is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tyler stands up over Yestrish, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Yestrish is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tyler is controlling him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tyler seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

and Tyler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yestrish won't be happy with that.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yestrish trying to remain calm as Tyler controls from the top position.
Tyler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Tyler misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Tyler throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Yestrish is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Tyler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Yestrish bucks up and tries to throw Tyler off but instead Tyler has got his back!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Tyler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Tyler drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tyler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yestrish can do to turn this around?
Tyler controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tyler prevents Yestrish from getting back to his feet.
Tyler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Yestrish avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Tyler darts in and clinches Yestrish up against the cage.

Yestrish stops Tyler from standing up.
Yestrish would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Tyler is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Yestrish wants to get up but he can't break Tyler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Tyler tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Yestrish wants to stand but Tyler is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Yestrish lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tyler circles away quickly and effectively.
Yestrish falls off balance throwing a combination

and Tyler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yestrish won't be happy with that.

Tyler misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Tyler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tyler is trying to get an arm triangle but Yestrish is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yestrish is trying to get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here as Tyler stalls from top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tyler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yestrish did well to prevent Tyler getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Yestrish enables Tyler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yestrish manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Yestrish is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Tyler dives into side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
