Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Barton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Lowery!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lowery feints and as Barton raises his hands in defense, Lowery changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lowery must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Barton looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Lowery pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barton is keeping the position for now.

Barton is looking for a triangle but Lowery pushes his legs off easily.

Lowery tries to move into full mount but can't pass Barton's legs.
Lowery sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Barton is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Lowery remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lowery lands some shots froms side control.

Lowery tries for a kimura but Barton is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Barton's face as Lowery controls the position.
Lowery throws a strike aimed at the side of Barton's head but Barton avoids it well.
Barton stops Lowery from passing to mount.
Barton looks to move to half guard but instead Lowery has passed into mount! Damn!

Lowery jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Barton manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Lowery stands up and beckons Barton to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lowery.
Lowery changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barton tries to avoid it but Lowery manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barton to the ground. Barton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lowery darts in and clinches Barton up against the cage.
Barton is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lowery fails to pull guard.
John Barton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Lowery.

Lowery manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Lowery is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lowery is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Lowery got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lowery has managed to get both his arms back between Barton's legs - danger averted.
Lowery is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Barton wants to improve his position but Lowery is controlling well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lowery is pressing down on Barton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Barton is holding on for now.
Lowery slips a nice elbow through Barton's hands, connecting with Barton's forehead.

Lowery's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Lowery has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lowery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Let's hope that Lowery has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Lowery is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Barton defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Barton is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Lowery.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Lowery controlling the positon.
Lowery has the hooks in. Barton is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Barton tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lowery is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Barton's shoulder. That is not cool.
More stalling from Lowery.

Lowery tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lowery has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lowery tries to score with some ground and pound. Barton controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lowery has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Barton!
Barton bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Barton is fighting to break Lowery's control of his arms but Lowery is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lowery lands a nice looking kick to the body. Barton takes a step back to recover.

Barton slaps away a takedown attempt from Lowery, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As Lowery tries to get set, Barton tries to push him back and clinch up but Lowery manages to avoid the attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alex Lowery comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Lowery winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
