Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Martin Espiga (ranked 5203 p4p, 477 weight class) and Chris Buchanan (ranked 5378 p4p, 483 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Martin Espiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris Buchanan!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buchanan walks into a left hand.

Buchanan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Espiga was covering up waiting for the punch and Buchanan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Buchanan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Buchanan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Espiga is controlling Buchanan's posture.
Buchanan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Buchanan postures up in Espiga's guard and throws a big left but Espiga blocks it.
Espiga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Buchanan scoring with some ground and pound.
Buchanan works over Espiga with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buchanan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Espiga on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Espiga tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Espiga is trying to keep Buchanan in close.

Buchanan sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buchanan lands a couple of elbows.
Buchanan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Espiga trying to control the position.
Espiga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Buchanan is one step ahead there.
Buchanan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Buchanan scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Espiga has momentary wrist control but Buchanan slips an elbow through the middle.
Espiga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Buchanan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Espiga's head.
Buchanan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Buchanan lands a couple of digs.

Buchanan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Espiga is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Buchanan works over Espiga with some ground and pound from guard.
Espiga has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Buchanan stands and throws Espiga's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Buchanan is working Espiga over with some ground and pound from side control.
Buchanan is chipping away with strikes.
Espiga tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Espiga is trying to escape the position but Buchanan is controlling the position.

Buchanan lands a strong strike to the head of Espiga. That's dazed him! Buchanan looking to finish here. Espiga is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Buchanan lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Buchanan!
After the fight, Chris Buchanan was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
