Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Casaus (ranked 5201 p4p, 352 weight class) and Rio Avalos (ranked 5377 p4p, 360 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aaron Casaus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rio Avalos!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avalos needs to keep his hands up - Casaus had a free shot at his head there.
Nice defenses there by Casaus.
Avalos misses with a hook. Casaus ducked under it nicely.
Casaus lands with an uppercut that bounces Avalos off the cage and back into range.
Casaus lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Avalos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Casaus bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Avalos's head backwards.
Nice cross by Casaus.
Casaus cracks Avalos with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jab, jab by Casaus - just one landing.

Avalos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Casaus's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Avalos distracts Casaus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Casaus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Casaus tries to get out of the position.
Casaus trying to keep a closed guard but Avalos is proving a slippery customer.
Avalos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
It looks like Avalos might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Let's hope that Avalos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Avalos not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Casaus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Avalos on the ground.

Casaus is trying to control the position but Avalos postures up.
Avalos is working Casaus over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Avalos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Avalos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Avalos stands and throws Casaus's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Avalos connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Casaus some visible discomfort.
Avalos creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Casaus is looking to regain half guard here but Avalos keeps moving and retains side control.

Check out the look on Avalos's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Casaus is trying to control Avalos's posture but Avalos avoids it.
Avalos looks up at the clock and then as Casaus takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Avalos smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Oh Casaus is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Casaus seems to have got his legs back now.
Avalos working away.
Avalos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Casaus's shoulder. That is not cool.
Casaus tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Avalos landing strikes.
A lull in the action here as Avalos stalls from top position.
Casaus tries to bench press Avalos off him but Avalos keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rio Avalos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Avalos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Avalos drops his hands momentarily and Casaus takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Casaus lands with a right hand.
Casaus connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Avalos looks to land a left hand but Casaus moved out of range nicely.
Casaus lunges at Avalos with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Avalos's hand.
Casaus lands a jab.
Casaus misses with a straight left.
Casaus lands with a straight right. Avalos didn't see that one coming.
Aaron Casaus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Avalos throws the left hand but Casaus avoids the punch easily.
Avalos throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Casaus to counter with a crisp jab.
Casaus moves out of range as Avalos strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Casaus clobbers Avalos with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Avalos looks to throw the jab but Casaus is out of range.
Casaus throws a shot from downtown. Avalos moves away and avoids it.

Casaus throws a hook but Avalos blocks it.
Avalos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Casaus.
Avalos tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Casaus connects with a single shot there.

Casaus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Avalos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Avalos is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Casaus wants to sweep here but Avalos controlling him for the moment.
Casaus can't keep his opponent in guard - Avalos advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Casaus wants to control but Avalos is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Avalos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Casaus!

Avalos is continuing to stall.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The referee warns Casaus that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Casaus is wriggling around trying to escape.
Avalos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Casaus can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Casaus wants to hold on but Avalos pushes him away.
Avalos lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Avalos! Casaus is hurt baaadly! Avalos is firing away with more strikes - Casaus is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rio Avalos!
Rio Avalos decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
