Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alessandro Marrano (ranked 5127 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Mendez (ranked 3913 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alessandro Marrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Marrano fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mendez, pushing him back against the cage.

Marrano pulls guard.

Marrano looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mendez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marrano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Marrano is looking for a triangle but Mendez pushes his legs off easily.

Marrano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marrano has his foot on Mendez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mendez works his way back into a safe position though.

Mendez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Marrano to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mendez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Marrano pulls down on the head and he's put Mendez to sleep! This one is all over!
