PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Steel (ranked 2949 p4p, 323 weight class) and Bill Watson (ranked 2567 p4p, 293 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jack Steel has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack Steel seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bill Watson!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson throws a hook but Steel avoids it easily.
Watson throws a shot from downtown. Steel moves away and avoids it.
Steel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Steel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A swing and a miss from Watson.
Steel went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Watson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Watson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Steel throws a series of punches but Watson moves out of range.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Steel.

and Steel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Watson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Steel stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Watson in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Watson gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Watson tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Steel is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Watson buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Watson!! Watson is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Steel throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Steel!
