The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Dean counters with a series of strikes. Davidson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Dean really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Davidson shoots for a double leg takedown but Dean sprawls well. He's pushed Davidson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Samuel Dean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Davidson.

It looked like Dean was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Davidson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dean is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dean is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Davidson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Davidson is pressed up against the cage. Dean has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Davidson down to the mat. Davidson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Dean has his foot on Davidson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davidson works his way back into a safe position though.

Dean is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
