Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Ravenna (ranked 5267 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Washington (ranked 5608 p4p, 0 weight class). Ravenna's entrance music is Arise by Wolfgang. A fine choice. Rich Washington is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Ravenna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rich Washington !
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ravenna dives in and scores a takedown into Washington 's guard.
Washington looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Ravenna with a flurry of punches that miss.
Washington keeping full guard, as Ravenna tries to pass.

Ravenna stands up and waves to Washington to follow him.

Ravenna moves into the clinch.

Washington pulls guard effortlessly.
Ravenna not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ravenna trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ravenna looking to sit in guard and control but Washington gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ravenna looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ravenna knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Washington on the ground.

Washington got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ravenna has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Washington has managed to get both his arms back between Ravenna's legs - danger averted.
Washington throwing strikes from guard but Ravenna blocks nicely.
Ravenna looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Ravenna has his foot on Washington 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Washington works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Washington won't allow Ravenna to sweep him here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Washington looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Washington tries to clinch but Ravenna moves out of range.
Ravenna tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ravenna will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Washington raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A head kick from Ravenna lands but Washington takes it in his stride.
Ravenna throws a one two combo.
Ravenna scores with a nice head shot.
Washington stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ravenna.

Ravenna clinches with his opponent.
Ravenna fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Ravenna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Washington fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ravenna fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Ravenna. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ravenna fails with the takedown.

Ravenna moves into the clinch.
Ravenna stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ravenna blocks an uppercut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ravenna unloads a knee to the mid-section. Washington lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Ravenna wants a takedown.

Ravenna ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ravenna no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Ravenna dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Horrible takedown attempt by Ravenna or perhaps it was just good defense by Washington , which made it look bad.
