Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kip Newman (ranked 8008 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davin Driscol (ranked 5261 p4p, 0 weight class). Kip Newman has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kip Newman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davin Driscol!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by Driscol!
Newman shoots in looking for a takedown. Driscol tries to sprawl out of it but Newman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Driscol manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Driscol feints the counter takedown.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Newman closes the distance and clinches up with Driscol, looking for a takedown. Newman pushes Driscol against the cage but Driscol circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Driscol scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Newman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Driscol working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Driscol has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Newman tries to sprawl but Driscol drives through with a takedown into half guard.

It looks like Driscol might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Driscol is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Driscol is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Driscol stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Newman to get to his feet.

Driscol closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Driscol lands in his opponent's guard.

Driscol decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Driscol will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Driscol leaves Newman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Driscol is looking for the big counter here.
Newman seems to have got his legs back now.

Newman misses with a takedown attempt - Driscol sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Driscol drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Driscol jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Driscol not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Driscol wants to control from the top but Newman keeps moving.
Newman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Driscol is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Driscol got a little sloppy there for a moment and Newman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Driscol has managed to get both his arms back between Newman's legs - danger averted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Driscol scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Newman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Driscol gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Newman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Driscol defends well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Driscol's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Driscol is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
